Learn the foundational skills and structures of bookbinding that every beginning bookmaker should know. Students will come out of this class with a variety of bindings, including long stitch binding, Japanese stab binding, and accordion folding. This is a great jumping off point for any aspiring book artist to gain the skills to confidently start making books of their own.
Hanna Rashidi (she/her/hers) is a bookbinder and teaching artist with an AB from Brown University in Literary Arts. She is currently training at North Bennet Street School in the Bookbinding Department. She is deeply committed to a respect for craft and to incorporating thoughtful design into useful objects.
Her work spans a wide range of skills including new bindings, custom boxes, book conservation, and paper repair. She has taught at numerous institutions including the San Francisco Center for the Book and North Bennet Street School. You can find her current projects on Instagram @rashidiart
