Fuller Craft Museum is pleased to partner with Scouting America’s Mayflower Council to offer Scouts the opportunity to earn their Art Merit Badge in a creative museum setting. In this hands-on workshop, Scouts will explore the fundamentals of art and design while drawing inspiration from contemporary craft on view throughout the Museum.
Participants will learn about the seven elements of art and six principles of design, then put those concepts into practice through hands-on activities using a variety of art materials and techniques.
During the workshop, Scouts will:
- Explore the elements of art and principles of design
- Experiment with four different art mediums, including pencil, charcoal, pastels, and more
- Create an original design, visual story, or logo
- Tour Fuller Craft Museum’s galleries and discuss works of contemporary craft
- Learn about careers in art and creative fields
The Museum visit fulfills Art Merit Badge Requirement #6, giving Scouts the opportunity to experience professional artwork firsthand and discuss what they observe.
All art supplies for the workshop will be provided.
