April 28, 2021 : Liisa Nelson
Liisa Nelson is an artist whose materials and subject matter vary widely and whose work reflects the awe she experiences through nature and culture. Nelson is a fourth-generation Montanan and an internationally recognized artist. She has an MFA in Ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. In the two years since her graduation she has worked as a Professor of Ceramics at Alfred University, a Visiting Artist at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, an Artist in Residence at the Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute, and recently founded her own gallery (Theorii Contemporary Art Space) in her hometown of Great Falls, Montana.
Her piece, “Imaginary Morning,” is currently on view at Fuller Craft Museum in the exhibition Particle & Wave: PaperClay Illuminated. Other works by Liisa appear in several private and museum collections in the United States and abroad.
