Ceramic Sgrafitto Platter

The Aquatic Large Rimmed Platter features a jellyfish on the base of the plate and octopus tentacles around the rim. Sarah Caruso crafted this piece using the sgrafitto technique in which a thin layer of underglaze was applied over a clay body and carved away to create sealife imagery. This allowed the outline of the tentacles and waves to be white, while the background remained an array of blues.
