Paul J. Smith, Judy Moonelis (Ceramics) – At her studio, New York, NY, ca. 1985.
Fuller Craft Museum is pleased to present Paul J. Smith Portraits: A Photographic Journal of the Studio Craft Community, an original photography exhibition that features 31 portraits by Paul J. Smith, Director Emeritus of the Museum of Arts and Design. The photographs, taken over a 30-year period, represent Smith’s personal visual journal of the history of the studio craft movement. The body of work poignantly reflects his longtime passion for meeting makers while chronicling the deeply connected and inclusive community of craft artists. The 31 prints were selected from the more extensive collection of 240 photographs featured in the recently released book Masters of Craft, 224 Artists in Fiber, Clay, Glass, Metal and Wood: Portraits by Paul J. Smith. The Fuller Craft exhibition is the first to present Smith’s portraits across the full range of craft media.
Come meet Paul J. Smith at the opening reception on Saturday, October 3, 2015, 2:00 pm. He will give a lecture at 3:00 pm. Space is limited.
