Michael Velliquette, Oneness, 2010, paper card stock.
The field of paper craft is considered by many to be in the midst of a renaissance with a growing number of ingenious artists investigating the limitless potential of this simple, everyday material. Paper and Blade: Modern Paper Cutting will celebrate the pioneering spirit of artists working in this genre with a curatorial focus on cut paper. All invitees were selected for their passion for this humble material, their masterful techniques, and their innovative approaches to working in this media, and together they will present a collective vision of the future of paper craft. A partial list of participants includes Beatrice Coron, Maude White, Randal Thurston, Nikki McClure, Elizabeth Alexander, Bovey Lee, and Charles Clary. This exhibition was made possible by generous support from the Gretchen Keyworth Exhibitions Fund.
Join us for the reception on Sunday, March 13, with a 2:00 pm lecture by artist Beatrice Coron who will don her glorious cut paper cape. Don’t miss it. The reception is included with your Museum admission. The Coron lecture is $7 ($15 non-members). Reserve your spot today, seating is limited.
