Social Justice Sewing Academy Quilt Project
(January 21)
January 21, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Event Navigation
Come participate in a drop-in workshop with the Social Justice Sewing Academy at Fuller Craft Museum! This workshop experience provides participants with the opportunity to design a quilt square inspired by the social justice issue or topic of their choice that will be later pieced together into a community quilt.
By bridging artistic expression with activism participants are empowered to use their experiences and creativity to create works of art that advocate for social change. Once workshop blocks are secured with fabric glue, they are shipped across the US to embroidery volunteers who hand stitch the blocks. After they’ve been embroidered, blocks are sent back to SJSA and pieced together into a community quilt.
You don’t have to be an expert to design a quilt square, we invite you to share your message of passion, anger or sadness through art with us!
This event will directly follow the Craftivism Roundtable Panel Discussion at 3pm, and is free with admission, space is limited–please reserve your spot today!
This workshop is appropriate for age 14 and up. www.sjsacademy.com
