Pottery: Intro to Ceramics Session 2
March 12, 2017 - April 16, 2017
Event Navigation
This class will cover the basics of hand-building with clay: slab, pinch and coil techniques. Students will begin to learn how to turn pots on the potters wheel, and are encouraged to express their creativity through each method. They will also glaze, and can accompany the teacher to learn how to load and fire the kiln. Students are encouraged to complete several items in order to see their progression from the start of the class, and will be taking them home at the courses end. Items may need to be fired after the course has been completed and can be picked up when they are finished.
Students should be advised to bring an old towel, and clothing they don’t mind getting clay on. Clay easily washes off clothing but some glazes may stain. Aprons are available. One 25lb. bag of stoneware clay is provided. More clay is available for an additional fee. Instructor: Tara-Sinead Brault.
