Curator Julie Muñiz Instagram Takeover

Julie Muñiz is a Curator and Trend Forecaster with celebrated expertise in the intersecting fields of decorative arts, design, and craft. For an entire week, we invited her to curate our Instagram feed in celebration of our new exhibition From Where I Sit: Permanent Collection Seating. Juxtaposing exhibition pieces with both historic and contemporary examples, Muñiz’s posts will explore different themes found in the chairs, as well as offer new insight into Rybczynski’s quote “We are how we sit.”

Julie Muñiz is a Curator and Trend Forecaster with celebrated expertise in the intersecting fields of decorative arts, design, and craft. As a curator, she consults with both public and private organizations, helping them refine, define, and achieve their collecting goals. As a Forecaster, she works with direct-to-consumer home design and lifestyle brands, advising on macro forces and cultural shifts to help them prepare them for uncertain times. In addition, Julie is also the editorial voice behind @chair_aware where she shares her insights and posts regularly on both historic and contemporary design. Julie’s work been applauded and featured in the New York Times, Forbes, and the Business of Home. Some of her past partnerships include the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Oakland Museum of California, and Heath Ceramics (to name a few).
