Brockton Public Library – Brockton Symphony Chamber Music Series
The Brockton Public Library and the Brockton Symphony Chamber Players continue the third year of their Chamber Music collaboration! This year’s series is a bit different, and we are videorecording our performances, which then will be presented online. We thank the Fuller Craft Museum for their beautiful outdoor courtyard with the extra benefit of great acoustics for this performance.
Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 2:00 pm, we feature the Andromeda Quintet performing contemporary music by: women composers Jennifer Higdon & Lauren Bernofsky; Ewazen’s Colchester Fantasy, evoking Colchester England with its Roman wall and Norman castle, with each movement named for a local pub; Kamen’s warm & noble Quintet; John Cheetam’s Scherzo, evocative of old Wild West film scores; and Morley Calvert’s Suite from the Monteregian Hills, based on French-Canadian folk songs, with a title inspired by the eight mountains ranging in an arc from Mount Royal in Montreal south to the American border.

The quintet was recently featured on the All Newton Music School faculty recital series, and they have also produced and performed a number of outreach and educational programs.
Andromeda is committed to excellence, while exploring the expressive and technical possibilities of the brass quintet medium. Highlights of the 2020-21 season include concerts through the Music Performance Trust Fund, and the Brockton Public Library.
